My father's Omega Constellation had been sitting in a drawer for about twelve years. I was not sure if it was worth the effort. Chronovault did an archive overhaul on it — the photographic record they included was something I genuinely did not expect. The watch came back running well and looking as it should. Took about eight weeks, which they had warned me about at the start.

Brought in a Seiko I wear daily for a bench service. Straightforward transaction — they logged the watch on arrival, gave me a rough timeline of three weeks, and it came back on day 17. Keeps much better time than it did before. The only minor thing was that I had to call to check progress once, but when I did they were helpful and clear about where it was in the process.

I specifically wanted the exterior work done on a Rolex Date from the 1970s without losing the original brushed finish on the sides of the case. That kind of refinishing is easy to get wrong. The Chronovault team were clear about what they could and could not do before I left it with them, and the result was exactly what I had asked for. Nothing was over-polished.

Arrived in Bangkok and noticed my IWC pilot watch was running noticeably fast. Walked in, spoke with the person at the desk who turned out to be one of the watchmakers — he gave me a clear assessment on the spot and explained the options. I left it for a bench service. Picked it up before flying out and it was running within a few seconds per day.

My late husband had a Longines that needed both interior and exterior attention. I went in not knowing which service to choose. The staff took time to look at the watch and explain the differences without pushing me toward a more expensive option. In the end I chose the bench service first, with the exterior work to follow. That arrangement worked well for me.

Very comfortable dealing with them on a vintage Grand Seiko. They were familiar with the movement type, which was what I needed to know before leaving it. The assessment note was detailed and the archive overhaul service included everything I expected. The photographic file was a genuine addition — something I will keep with the watch.

Detailed Work Accounts
Three cases described in more detail — the watch, the concern, and what the work involved.
Case CS-01 — 1960s Swiss Dress Watch, Archive Overhaul
The Challenge
A 1960s Swiss dress watch brought in by a client whose grandfather had worn it for forty years. The movement had not been serviced in at least twenty years. Several components showed signs of dried lubricant, and the crown winding was stiff. The dial had minor surface foxing.
The Approach
Full archive-grade overhaul: disassembly, ultrasonic cleaning of every component, replacement of two worn keyless works parts sourced from a period-equivalent movement donor, dial consolidation, reassembly to original tolerances, and regulation. Staged photographs at each phase.
The Result
Movement running within +4/−2 seconds per day across five positions. Crown operation smooth. Dial stabilised. Client received the photographic record and a written service report. Work completed in 9 weeks including part sourcing.
"I wanted to know it had been done properly, not just that it was working. The photographic file answered that."
— Client, Sukhumvit district
Case CS-02 — Japanese Automatic, Exterior Restoration
The Challenge
A Japanese automatic from the early 1980s, worn daily for years. Case and bracelet heavily scratched, crystal with a deep impact mark on the inner surface, and crown tube seal perished. The client wanted the watch looking presentable for handover to a younger relative.
The Approach
Exterior restoration service: measured case refinishing (mixed brushed/polished finish as original), bracelet refinishing, crystal replacement with a period-correct mineral glass type, crown tube and caseback seal replacement, and a water resistance check to 30m as rated.
The Result
Case and bracelet returned to a presentable condition without over-polishing. Original surface geometry preserved. Crystal clear. Water resistance verified. Completed in 3.5 weeks. Movement function confirmed as part of the standard exterior intake check.
Case CS-03 — Swiss Automatic, Routine Bench Service
The Challenge
A Swiss automatic worn daily, last serviced six years prior. The owner noticed it was running progressively slow — losing around 45 seconds per day, which is outside the normal range for this movement type. No visible damage, but the timing variation was consistent.
The Approach
Standard bench service: disassembly, cleaning, fresh lubrication with movement-appropriate oils, regulation on timing machine across six positions. Gaskets inspected and found adequate; no replacement needed. Complications function checked. Condition note prepared on intake.
The Result
Movement regulated to +3/−1 seconds per day. Owner verified this over a two-week period and wrote back to confirm. Completed in 18 days. A clear example of regular servicing being the appropriate and cost-effective choice for a well-maintained daily wearer.
